Tri Series West Indies Vs Australia 13th June 2016 Live Updates

There’s bright sunshine in St Kitts as Mike Haysman welcomes us for the toss. Holder flicks the coin, Smith calls Heads, tails it is.

An interesting observation from the previous match was that both teams found it to be a lot more difficult to score runs towards the death. Smith attributed it to the wicket slowing down considerably. With that being the case, one would presume that batting first makes sense. We’ll see how it goes at the toss which is less than 10 minutes away…

West Indies are behind the eight-ball, and desperately need a win to bring things on an even keel. What may work in their favour though is this decent batting track. The armoury of hitters at their disposal will fancy clearing these short straight boundaries even with mis-hits. So it might come down to the batting ammunition between the two teams.

With bowlers (majorly spinners) ruling the roost in the Guyana leg of the competition, cricket returned to normalcy with the tri-series shifting to St Kitts. The game between Australia and South Africa saw a decent ODI track which offered runs with the new ball, some turn in the middle, and reverse swing at the death to provide more of a fair contest between bat and ball. Not to mention those incredibly small boundaries. After playing catch-up for most part of the run-chase, Australia turned it on its head with some vicious reverse swing bowling through Starc and Hazlewood which brought the South African lower middle order to its knees. Not to mention the highly impressive Zampa. But as far as batting goes, they’ll have to find some other run-source because Warner has been ruled out after hurting his finger while diving in the field against the Proteas.
