Tamil Film Gethu 1st & 2nd Day (Friday) Collection Box Office Kamai :- Tamil crime thriller Gethu which was being written & directed by Thirukumaran and features the spicy pair of Udhayanidhi Stalin and Amy Jackson in lead roles went on screens earlier this week on Thursday 14 January 2016 worldwide is getting mind blowing public response currently both from local South markets and key international circuits as well at the same time. Gethu which has a scheduled running time of 118 minutes was released with positive reviews and they are now doing wonders for this venture as it is raking massive earnings from the various parts of Tamil Nadu region at present.
The story of Gethu is set in a town called Kumili on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Sethu (Udhyanidhi) is the son of a PE teacher (Sathyaraj) and he is the librarian of the town. It’s when he hunts down the girl who has stolen books from his library that he meets Amy Jackson. She turns out to be a book thief but the two end up meeting again and again. Obviously, there is love in the air. We also meet John Mathew, a Christian priest who runs a home. Meanwhile, Sethu’s dad files a complaint against the bar that has opened up near his school. The local rowdy who owns it confronts him and a fight ensues between Sethu, his dad and the rowdy gang. The rowdy is later found dead in the dam nearby and Sethu’s dad is accused of murder. Then Mathew is murdered too. A man named Abdul Kamaal comes into the picture. Who is the murderer? What is the motive? Who are the people involved in this murder?
Some movies are so pleasing visually, their every shot composed so painstakingly, that you are happy to cut them way more slack than you’d others. Gethu is one such. The whole movie takes place in an unknown hillstation, and so, yes, the exotic locations must have naturally played their part in making the often-misty-looking shots look great. Nevertheless, it’s evident that Sukumar, the cinematographer, and Thirukumaran, the director, have spent hours mulling over the colour tones (blue, for instance, is a dominant theme, with Udhayanidhi and Amy Jackson mostly seen wearing that colour), the lighting, the camera angles, and the locations. That’s not the only pleasant surprise in Gethu. The whole movie bears the flavour of a short-story adaptation, and at a little over two hours, there isn’t too much duration in which to flood the story with masala elements and thoroughly destroy it, although, to its discredit, Gethu certainly does try.
As far as the business prospective is concerned Gethu 2nd day overall occupancy has been recorded around 65% as this movie is currently running on about 250 screens across India and the competition currently it is facing from other Tollywood films at South Indian box office is extremely tough so these figures are good enough and there are high hopes from this venture in the coming days assuming from the current scenario.
