For Salman Khan’s Sultan, the writing is on the wall, mat, if you think that is more appropriate. The movie has been in cinemas for as long as 21 days having been first released on July 6 (the time-span we have the data for) and now it is definitely not going anywhere in a hurry. In fact it has even stopped crawling and the people in power over these issues should do it a favour and lay it to rest peacefully. It is sad to see greatness reduced to a sorry state of affairs, but that is what is happening in cinemas right now. (Bollywood Hungama)

Sultan collections have had a magnificent run through this 3 week run. From an extended weekend booster shot to a fantastic opening weekend and thereafter a top first week, Sultan box office collections have been on a virtually permanent high. Very few movies manage to stay aloft for so long and along the way it has become the number 2 movie in India displacing Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3. However, it needed a bigger third week, a much, much bigger one to protect itself from those who are coming up quickly at the back and at the same time try and give stiff competition to the No. 1 movie, which is PK. Now, Salman Khan finds that Rajinikanth’s magnificent recent release Kabali is growing ever bigger in his rear-view mirror. It will most probably overtake the Bollywood star and slot into the second position and perhaps even put up a better challenge against PK. Three weeks is a long time and a film really has to be deep content-wise to appeal to a wide section of the people to make them keep surging into the cinemas.

Wednesday and Thursday are grace days as the film released two days before the usual box office date. The reason was a festival of Eid. On Tuesday the film had earned an amount of 2 crore rupees.

The overseas collections remain even better than the domestic ones. The Huge response was seen from Gulf, Pakistan and the United States of America. Occupancy reaches 70% on that day most of the times. The movie earned 31.5 on 1st Friday.

Below are the box office collection figures that Sultan has generated through its 4th Thursday Business at Indian box office markets checkout :

Sultan 22nd Day Collection – Rs 1.15 crore

Sultan 23rd Day Collection – Rs 1.05 crore (approx)
