Andhra Pradesh 10 August 2015 : Chinese mobile brand Xiaomi, as promised, has unveiled its first ‘Made in India’ Android smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime which is priced at Rs. 6,999.
Redmi Prime 2 was unveiled Monday in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and has been manufactured by the company’s first phone plant in Visakhapatnam.
The Redmi 2 Prime comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, rather than the 1GB RAM and 8GB storage of the original. The handset also comes with a 4.7-inch HD display, Snapdragon 410 SoC, 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera for quality selfies and a 2,200mAh battery.
Redmi Prime 2 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS which has been layered with company’s own MIUI 6. The handset supports 4G dual-SIM functionality, where both SIM card slots support 4G networks. The smartphone supports LTE bands in India.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime will be available from Mi.com/in, Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal at a price of Rs 6,999.
